Regional President Angela Shannon Attends Leadership Program

Participants in Young Leaders ProgramAngela Shannon, regional president in AgriLand’s Nacogdoches office, recently attended the Farm Credit Association Leadership Program in Washington, D.C. Hosted by the Farm Credit Bank of Texas, the program is designed to give association staff an inside look at how the Farm Credit System attracts money from Wall Street and flows it out to rural America through participants’ respective associations.

During the program, the group visited the Federal Farm Credit Banks Funding Corporation and the financial district in New York City. Participants met with Farm Credit Council staff and Farm Credit Administration Chairman Lee Strom. They also met with their members of Congress, to impress on them the important role Farm Credit plays in rural America and in the lives of farmers and ranchers across the district.

“The association leadership trip provided me a valuable opportunity to meet with the people in Washington and New York who make decisions that affect our borrowers,” said Shannon. “We learned that the Farm Credit System is still financially strong and prosperous due to conservative lending policies and a strong credit culture. I was able to see firsthand how all the parts of the Farm Credit System work together to allow us to serve the needs of our customers.”
